Hi, I came across this site a few days ago when an article about child asphyxiation caught my eye. I was profoundly moved by this tragedy. Looking through this site (looking at Eric’s pictures and reading your poems, etc…) brought about an unimaginable sense of loss that I had never felt before. We have two boys (2 1/2 and 4 1/2 years old) and as I look through their pictures, the realization that this tragedy could happen to anybody, even our family, hit me like a ton of bricks. They are everything that matters to us, and I can’t imagine the pain of losing them. I am truly sorry for the loss of your son Eric. I thought you would like to know that even though this happened nine years ago, and we never knew Eric, he has touched our hearts and forever changed our lives. I will not take anything for granted with my family anymore, and I will make sure they know how much I love and appreciate them. Thank you for sharing, and God bless….

I'm so sorry for the loss of your son. My heart breaks for the loss of any child through any accident. I wish that we didn't have suffering such as this on this Earth. I know you will see your son again. God Bless.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Joan. I almost lost my three-year-old son to a Krabby Pattie candy in 2004; I'm lucky that it dislodged and he lived. I complained to the FDA about the size and shape of the candy, they sent me to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, who said it was a food problem, and referred me back to the FDA. No accountability! Please gain strength for your battle knowing that lots of parents have your back.

it is sad and tragic. But sometimes people must take responsibility for ther actions. It is very easy to blame others when you make a mistake. But above all you must use common sense. It cannot be the physicians fault for not telling about hotdogs or the fact there was no warning label on the package. Warning labels do not work and no one reads them anyway. If a person cannot demonstrate enough common sense to cut and mash up a round and smooth object for their child they they are not going to have the common sense to read a warning label, let alone understand it. It is a terrible tradgedy what happened but all the warning label and list of dangerous foods will never replace common sense.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful son. I just gave my two boys hot dogs for dinner tonight - not cut up. Thank you so much for your efforts to make parents more aware about choking hazards. I know that you will see your son again. In the meantime, I wish you and your family peace, comfort, hope, health and happiness.
